Our classes were fortunate to have Representative Lori Houghton come and speak with us today. This was a fun way to end our government unit. Throughout the presentation, students made many connections between our class simulation of Congress and what happens at the state and federal levels. We are so fortunate to have a local representative take time to come in and get students excited about the legislative process. Ask your child what they learned today.

Simulation of Congress
Both classes did an amazing job simulating Congress this morning. Prior to the simulation, students wrote their own bills and explained why they were important to the American people. They also had to state whether the bill required money and where that money would come from. During the simulation, we modeled the Senate and the House of Representatives. Students took their roles seriously. Ask your child what happened to their bill and what they learned.
